Practitioner Profile: Jeff Katowitz, LMFT I am pleased to introduce myself. My name is Jeff Katowitz. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I graduated from Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1996. During the last sixteen years I have provided individual, couple, and family therapy in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburban areas. Since 2007, I have been providing needs assessment evaluations and in-community therapy to children, adolescents and their families in New Jersey. I have thoroughly enjoyed the outreach aspect of my practice as it has given me tremendous insight into community systems and how they impact the lives of families. I have served as a liaison and facilitator of meetings with school counselors, teachers, lawyers, psychiatrists, and therapists and assisted children and their families to interact with these professionals. I have been in private practice since 2002. My areas of specialty and concentration include: blended family issues, adolescent development, children in foster care, adoption, separation and divorce, and mediation. Most recently I have completed additional training to support my work as a parent coordinator. This is a growing profession geared towards working closely with judges, lawyers and the judicial system in order to help resolve custody, visitation and other legal decisions regarding children and their best interests. I was fortunate to be invited by Elizabeth Venart to join the Resiliency Center in November 2008. As a family therapist, I believe in bringing people together and utilizing the strength and creativity of each individual—blending their ideas, thoughts, and feelings to establish a healthier understanding of how to function more harmoniously as a unit. My passion and joy working with children and adolescents is drawn from using personal experiences in music, athletics, and the creative arts to facilitate establishing a comfortable and therapeutic bond. Most importantly, I feel that my role is to initiate a process that promotes the family system’s ability to support the interests and passions that exist in these young individuals. I would invite those interested in my practice to contact me directly at (215) 307-0055 or at jpkatowitz@verizon.net. |
