Practitioner Profile: Elizabeth McNamara Elizabeth McNamara, MA, ADTR, LPC, NCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and registered Movement Therapist. This dual background allows Elizabeth to weave expressive arts and traditional psychotherapy into an approach that speaks to healing both the mind and body. Elizabeth graduated from Hahnemann University and completed a clinical internship program at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, DC. There she conducted a research study investigating the effectiveness of Dance/Movement Therapy as a treatment modality for dually diagnosed violent offenders. For the past 10 years, Elizabeth’s experience has included work in various treatment settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient community mental health, forensics, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation. In her current practice, Elizabeth sees individuals and couples struggling with various life challenges, including mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, difficult life transitions and issues around abuse and traumatic life events. In addition to her private counseling practice, Elizabeth is the Co-Director of Creative Arts for Everyone, a non-profit organization providing creative art therapy services to families in Philadelphia’s Family Court system. It is Elizabeth’s hope to utilize her client-centered, strengths-based approach to create a safe and supportive environment in which people can use both mind and body as an integrated vehicle with which to navigate self-exploration, healing, and optimum health.
