Listen to an interview with Patricia Sweeney.

Patricia has over twenty five years of health care experience. She is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. She completed her Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and is Classically Trained in Five Element Acupuncture. She is Board Certified in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.  About her health care career and transition to acupuncture, Patricia says, “During my fifteen years of practicing nursing, I became aware of western medicine’s emphasis on pathology rather than health.  I began learning Traditional Chinese medicine in 1992 and happily here I have found a practice that endorses health on all levels physical, emotional and spiritual.”

She is registered to Practice in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Ireland. In addition to her private acupuncture practice, Patricia is a faculty member of the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Acupuncture.

SPECIAL AREAS OF FOCUS:

While treating a wide array of wellness and bodily harmony issues in my Oriental Medicine Practice, she has a special focus in the areas of Infertility, Menopausal disorders and Facial Rejuvenation.

INFERTILITY:
Women with infertility are often suffering from difficulty with the flow of Qi (energy) and blood into the uterus.  Chinese medicine treatment is based on treating the individual through the four distinct phases of the menstrual cycle.  Treatment addresses the root problems and aims to restore harmony and balance, help the blood flow effortlessly, and eliminate impediments to conception.  Together with herbs, acupuncture helps with regulation of the menstrual cycle and strengthening of the flow of blood, yin (fluid) essences and energy.  Acupuncture treatment for infertility, anywhere from 3 to 12 months in length, has proven successful both alone and in combination with Western treatments.

MENOPAUSE:
In Chinese Medicine, menopause is thought to destabilize the Qi in many women, reflected in symptoms such as sleep disorders, hot flashes, night sweats, and mood disorders.  Through the use of acupuncture along with herbal supplements, you can achieve balance in the yin and yang essences, calming the blood flow, the mind, and the emotions. This will result in even, stable emotions, less moodiness, and good sleep hygiene including the cessation of night sweats.

FACIAL REJUVENATION:
BEAUTY in Chinese medicine is more than skin deep.  Much deeper!  Skin beauty depends on the health of the vital organs primarily the liver, spleen, lung, kidney and heart .  Proper absorption of nutrients by these organs both eliminates toxins and promotes healthy tissue growth.  Through a combination of herbal medicine, simple lifestyle changes, and facial acupuncture, you will soon have a younger looking skin aglow with vitality.
