Practitioner Profile: Georgia Tetlow, MD

Dr. Georgia Tetlow is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician specializing in integrative medicine for wellness and a broad range of health concerns. She augments her use of conventional medicine with evidence-based practices from a wide range of traditions to address the health of the whole person, including mind, body and spirit.

Dr. Tetlow specializes in recovery from chronic illness as well as acute and chronic musculoskeletal diagnoses. She treats patients for integrative rehabilitation of stroke, brain injury, amputation, spinal cord injury and orthopedic diagnoses, as well as those suffering from autoimmune disease, inflammatory bowel syndrome, sleep disturbances, headaches, arthritis, fatigue, and many other conditions.

Dr. Tetlow received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her internal medicine internship at Albert Einstein Medical Center and her rehabilitation residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. She is currently a sponsored fellow of the Bravewell Collaborative at the University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil.

She has authored academic articles on physical medicine and rehabilitation and integrative medicine, including a co-authorship of a book chapter on Traditional Ayurveda in Fundamentals of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2001. Dr. Tetlow is a certified Hatha yoga instructor with 18 years experience, as well as a private yoga therapist.

She received her certificate in Ayurvedic Studies from the Ayurvedic Institute in 1995, and completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Practicum at Jefferson in 2007. She has been awarded the Rex Newton Research Presentation Award, the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Leonard P. Tow 2004 Humanism in Medicine Award, and a Howard Hughes grant through Antioch College, among others. She is fluent in Spanish, French and reads Sanskrit.
