Meditation
Meditation with Dean Solon
Meditation can be described as "an abiding in one's natural state, without mental complications." In the meditation class, led by Dean Solon, we will be cultivating and sharing clarity and compassion---an unfolding awareness and mindfulness---which may be summed up with this simple expression: a knowing of things as they are. Beginning this Fall, classes will be held weekly on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Dean at Solon945@aol.com.

Monthly Drumming Circle
Last Friday of the month at 7:30 pm
In our monthly drumming circle, we create and build rhythms together in a fun and welcoming community. All levels of drummers are welcome, teens and adults, beginners to advanced. Bring your drums and other percussion instruments. You may also feel inspired to dance and sing. We will have some extra percussion instruments for those who wish to come but don’t already have an instrument. Andre Fulton, who has been a drummer over 10 years, leads the circle and shares African, Brazilian, and Latin rhythms. RSVP early as space is limited – by going online to our page on Meetup at

Qigong
Listen to interview with Qigong teacher Karen Steinbrecher.
Qigong [pronounced chee-gung] classes are offered weekly at The Resiliency Center. "Chi"[or Qi] means energy or breath. It is the source of life. Gong means moving the energy. Qigong literally means “energy work” and has been continuously practiced in China for thousands of years to achieve vibrant health and a calm mind. Qigong is similar to Tai Chi in that it incorporates slow, meditative movements with deep abdominal breathing. Qigong consists of 'separate' standing exercises used for overall wellbeing, harmony, and improved health. Practitioners choose exercises that generally increase overall range of motion, improve flexibility, and create better balance. They can be done in any order for any length of time. Conversely, Tai Chi consists of standing Qigong moves linked together in a non-changing "choreography" that has gone unaltered for centuries.
In the introductory Qigong classes offered through The Resiliency Center, you will learn basic, yet powerful Qigong exercises based on the movement of animals and birds (such as the crane, eagle, dragon, and swan), as well as movements to strengthen the bones and the immune system and to increase range of motion with the hips, shoulders, wrists, and the neck. Take time now to slow down, get in touch with your body, and become whole. To learn more, contact Karen at mswings3@webtv.net or call ahead to The Resiliency Center to sign up for a class—at 215-542-5004.
